| Details: | Principal/Associate Electrical Engineer My client, an established multidisciplinary consultancy currently has a requirement for a Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer based in West Sussex. The vacancy is for a designer of electrical systems based within the Civil Engineering department. The role would comprise providing support to a wide range of disciplines within the company, principally in connection with highways and transport-related projects. The successful candidates should preferably be chartered engineers and have experience in a relevant discipline. Responsibilities To lead and co-ordinate electrical and mechanical engineering activities in projects of various sizes, generally involving assistance with the development and review of technical proposals for electrical systems associated with: Road and rail tunnels Development of green - and brownfield sites Light rail schemes Inter-modal freight handling facilities Experience Essential Experience in the design of normal and emergency power supplies, switchgear and distribution systems, tunnel lighting, supplies to mechanical plant, communications, instrumentation and SCADA systems. Sufficient background knowledge to be able to propose and debate alternative solutions to technical and operational problems. Experience Desirable An appreciation of the basic principles of M&E systems for road and rail tunnels. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment. Building services background would be beneficial. Chartered Qualifications Electrical engineering degree, BSc level minimum, or equivalent, e.g. HNC. Interpersonal Skills. Good team player, but able to work on own initiative and under pressure when necessary. Good communicator at all levels, both orally and in writing. Good presentation and report writing skills. Accuracy and attention to detail. Proficient in discussing technical issues in non-technical language. Financially aware. My client is offering a competitive salary as well as excellent benefits.
