| Details: | Through one of our most established clients currently has a urgent a requirement for a Security Shift Manager for a prestigious site based in Docklands. Main purpose of position: As Shift Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring operations associated with the security function for the contract operate smoothly and efficiently throughout the shift period. This includes all relevant information is accurately and effectively passed down to the officers and to the oncoming shift and site Security Management at the point of handover. The successful candidate will be responsible for a corporate security team of 19, made from two Supervisors and a 17 strong core team spread over 8 buildings Working on a flexible rolling roster of permanent nights based on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. The shift manager is the first contact in the event of disaster recovery/emergency response management This role is pivotal to the success of the overall contract and key to this position will be the ability to work closely with the Shift Security Supervisors, the Site security Managers and the Client in addition to his/her ability to motivate the Security Team. Key Accountabilities and Attributes: Generates unity and cohesion through supervision, encouragement and especially by example. Ability to relay relevant details through the management chain to achieve the security management objectives. Think critically yet positively and demonstrates an ability to challenge established processes to improve upon good performance. Capable of formulating a response to incidents without deferring upwards. Working to a degree of autonomy and confidence. Supervise and assess content and context of records maintained throughout the site. Able to comprehend the practical applications and usage of the access control systems. Overseeing the effective training & ongoing development of the Security Supervisor and Security Officers, following direction from the Security Manager, to ensure the very best service levels are achieved by the Security Team. Commutate with client and contractors in a pleasant, assertive, courteous manner, effectively relaying messages. Taking responsibility to ensure the security team are competent and professional in all levels of duties and is undertaking their duties with a strong degree of competency and efficiency. Ensure Information is cascaded effectively and accurately at all levels. By constant review making sure the Security Team knows and understands the building, the assignment and site specific work instructions. Review own staff’s performance on a regular basis, recommending promotions/next level training and retraining where required. Maintain an up to date knowledge of company practice, policies and quality standards as they relate to site operation and employment of hourly paid staff. Maintain a working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation pertinent to the jobholder’s role. Ensure all daily administration records/data bases are kept up to date and reflected accurately. Personal/Job Skills: Leadership, mentoring and coaching skills are essential to perform the exacting standards of the role. Problem recognition, problem solving and resolution skills are essential. A lateral thinker. Ability to reach a pragmatic solution to a problem. Customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction must be paramount. Ability to work within an industry compliance framework and legislation for key areas such as Health and Safety and Staff Monitoring. Strong and demonstrate people management skills including the ability to motivate, train, develop and implement human resource policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills with basic IT skills. A completer / finisher with a structured approach to work by demonstrating the following attributes: - Displaying effective preparation. - Show a level of consistency, within their work and behaviour. - The ability to self manage. - Being Imaginative – The ability to make timely and appropriate changes to their thinking, plans, and methods. Ability to supervise without bias and develop and demonstrate high standards. Personal Attributes: Professional appearance, articulate, possesses an affable nature and possess excellent ‘Customer focus’. Physically fit to conduct themselves in line with all duties of the role Approachable and courteous demeanour to other employees, staff, clients and contractors. Ability to calmly deal with emergencies and delegate appropriately. Organised, methodical approach to correctly complete site reports, follow through site instructions. Flexible approach to work. Adaptable to Change Diplomatic and tactful when dealing with confrontational client or staffing issues. Relevant knowledge / Experience: Previous security experience desirable although not essential, preferably to Supervisor Level or equivalent. Experience with managing a team at Shift manager level would also provide the right level of experience desirable. Ability to demonstrate experience of managing a team of varied and dynamic people. Knowledge of alarm, fire, access control, cctv and reception systems. Supervisor and Management Training desirable. First Aid Training desirable.
