Details: My client a very well established civil engineering structures company currently requirement for a Senior Civil Structural Engineer based in East Grinstead.


My clients civil engineering structures team have a number of openings for Senior Engineers with a desire to work on exciting infrastructure projects and develop their career. You would be expected to have substantial experience in the design of bridge and/or heavy civil engineering structures associated with infrastructure works, and be looking to progress in your technical field.
The successful candidate would join the existing structures team who are currently providing design services on a variety of major infrastructure projects in the tunnelling, rail and highway sectors within the UK and internationally. The role will have responsibility attached to it for managing design teams and mentoring junior staff. Their main requirement is for a number of design commissions on the Crossrail scheme, (awaiting the results of our tender submissions) which will be located at Crossrail’s Canary Wharf offices, however other opportunities exist at our offices in East Grinstead.

The required areas of experience include:
•Station Boxes (diaphragm walls, secant pile walls, propping
slabs, etc)
•Cut and Cover Tunnels (diaphragm walls, secant pile walls,
etc)
•Bridges and Viaducts (both in steel and concrete)


Requirements:
(Essential)

•BEng level minimum, or equivalent.
•Chartered (ICE or IStructE).
•Good technical experience in bridge design and/or the design
of heavy civil engineering structures such as station boxes
and cut and cover tunnels.
•Good working knowledge of CDM requirements.
•Experience of planning design work and managing
programme and budgets for design tasks.

Requirements:
(Desirable)

•Understanding of the DMRB and British standards
•Knowledge of Eurocodes
•Working with contractors on design and build projects
•Experience in the detailed design of tunnels (immersed tube
and bored) and retaining structures
•Experience in the detailed design of a variety of forms of
bridge structure
•Experience of operating within quality procedures.

Responsibilities:

•Providing leadership to design teams and CAD teams for the
delivery of design
•Mentoring of junior technical staff
•Undertaking design work in accordance with quality
procedures and CDM legislation
•Managing programme and budgets of design work

necessary
•Good communicator at all levels, both orally and in writing
•Accuracy and attention to detail
•Interested in personal technical development in specific fields
•Willingness to learn, develop and widen experience
